Field Operations Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Field Operations Supervisor supports MVRTD’s mission by overseeing day to day transit operations in the field and at the Transit Center. This role ensures safe, reliable, customer focused service by supervising and supporting drivers, monitoring performance, and coordinating closely with operations and maintenance. Essential Functions:

  1. Field Supervision & Operator Support
  2. Oversee and/or staff the Transit Center desk and daily operations.
  3. Conduct regular field supervision and on board ride checks to ensure adherence to safety, customer service, and service quality standards.
  4. Monitor driver performance, provide real time feedback, and assist with coaching and follow up training.
  5. Assist in incident and accident investigations as needed, including gathering statements and documentation.
  6. Maintain required certifications and assist with training and recertification of operators.
  7. Provide operational support to drivers in the field, including radio communications, problem solving, and service adjustments.
  8. Vehicle, Service, and Safety Oversight
  9. Support maintenance staff with minor operational needs (e.g., moving buses, basic checks as assigned).
  10. Assist with snow removal and winter safety procedures at Transit Center and other MVRTD facilities.
  11. Evaluate fixed route, shuttle, and demand response schedules for on time performance, efficiency, and rider experience; recommend adjustments.
  12. Conduct route and stop safety evaluations and propose improvements.
  13. Support integration of new services, routing changes, and time point analysis.
  14. Operate CDL required vehicles when needed, including during service gaps, driver shortages, or emergencies.
  15. Use computer systems for scheduling, reporting, incident documentation, and data analysis.
  16. Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience in public transit, transportation operations, or related field preferred.

Supervisory or lead experience preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Minimum age 21 with at least five (5) years of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Must hold or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement; MVRTD is willing to train the right candidate.

DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

Ability to pass all required background checks and DOT regulated drug and alcohol testing (pre employment, random, and as otherwise required).

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on call shifts.

Strong communication, customer service, and problem solving skills.

Ability to use computers and learn scheduling, dispatch, and reporting systems.

Community Driver

Do you have a reliable vehicle, a clean driving record, enjoy helping people, have some free time and want to earn extra tax free money? We are in need of per diem drivers, who use their own vehicle to transport people to medical and other appointments, in return for a generous mileage reimbursement. Hours are flexible. Volunteer Coordinator

Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Reports to: Program Manager

Salary Range:  $24.00 – $26.00 per hour

 

Essential Function:

Support Marble Valley Regional Transit mission through the recruitment and retention of volunteer drivers and support of program management.

 

Major Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & retention of volunteer drivers, including identifying methods of recruitment
  • Add new drivers in our software system and maintain accurate files on all volunteer drivers
  • Collect all insurance/vehicle information from volunteer drivers; Keep excel spreadsheet of all volunteer driver information; Check spreadsheet weekly to be sure all requirements for drivers are up to date; Advise drivers that they cannot drive if any paperwork is missing
  • Perform background checks on all potential and existing drivers on an annual basis; Keep excel background check spreadsheet up to date
  • Perform reference checks on all potential volunteer drivers
  • Orientation for new volunteer drivers to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Make Quality Control calls weekly on all volunteers on a random basis, especially new volunteer drivers; Keep accurate files of calls; Have discussions with Program Manager/Executive Director and/or volunteer driver if any issues occur
  • Hold annual review with each volunteer driver
  • Plan and Coordinate volunteer activities/events
  • Attend any volunteer related meetings as required
  • Attend relevant training

 

Other Tasks as Requested:

  • Provide administrative support by reporting data as requested.
  • Volunteer verifications or review of verifications, as requested
  • Enter meal site data into the computer system, if applicable
  • Back up Dispatch by answering phones and assisting volunteers during the absence of Dispatch staff or when assigned
  • Maintain knowledge of bus routes as well as all rules/regulations pertaining to the Dispatch area
  • Other duties to support Program Management or other departments as assigned

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least three years of experience in an administrative support role
  • Customer service experience and/or outreach experience
  • Strong analytical skills; interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
  • Computer proficiency including use of Excel, Word, Outlook and database management programs
  • Ability to learn Scheduling Software
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and Drug and Alcohol DOT standards
  • Knowledge of local community
  • High level of professionalism
